Several years ago when my husband and I dreamed of moving to the beach we had set up a Pier-Cam on our computer for Avalon Fishing Pier in Kill Devil Hills, NC. No particular reason other than to look at the changing weather over the ocean in live photos captured in the Cam placed on the pier. I "grabbed" a few stills and drew one out on a gessobord to paint but never got around to it. Last week I spotted the abandoned board and put color to it. This David Austin Roses are my absolute favorite!! They are the "peony" of the rose family and I so wish that I could claim these are from my own garden. There are disadvantages of living in a condo but when I get a chance to paint these roses I take the pleasure. The pink of this variety is an icy pink with touches of a warmer tone. The original painting appears a bit more of what I describe.

 I worked from a photo on Pinterest that was shared without a credit to the photographer or origin. I hate that I can't provide a name for you for the grower or photographer,

It was a good day in the studio and it started my week off with great expectations. I’m developing a passion for floral art as a result of studying other great paintings and also as a result of my last commission. As I’m being influenced by the gorgeous, loose and painterly styles that I so admire in other artists’ work, I’m moving away from my very precise still life paintings for a while. It is so freeing and so much fun!!! I think my favorite part of this little piece is the blue bits on the petals reflecting the sky. What marvelous color in God’s creation!!! Please enlarge and enjoy the luscious brush strokes of pure color!!!

The first sight of Daffodils means spring is here!!! I haven't seen any yet this year but this painting is from a photo from last spring right before my Dad passed away. He loved spring, being an avid gardener and these Daffodils were picked from his beautiful selection.  It's ironic that I chose to included sea shells in my photo, not knowing then that I would soon move to my new home at the beach! Happy Easter to all FB friends and family!!
