Three Pears on a Table - SOLD

"Three Pears on a Table"

5 3/4" x 7 3/8" Oil on linen mounted on board.
$150. + $8. s&h - sold

You may recognize this table edge from previous paintings. It is not really a table but just a piece of some furniture that dates back to the Civil War. It was my great great grandmother's dresser, those where there are two sides with drawers and the middle dips down as an open area on which to place toiletries and a tall mirror above. During a move the dresser was damaged beyond repair and I salvaged the pieces. The two outside sections with the drawers I use as night stands in our bedroom and the middle drop down area that was just a shelf I now use as a small "table" for still life arrangements.

Painting this was pure joy. It was one of those paintings that I felt good about from the start without going through that doubtful stage. Yes, this is tight for me again, but it felt so natural I just didn't worry about being "loose".

This is so beautiful. The pears are so well done, with their shadow edges and areas where the light is striking them. The wallpaper is a perfect background for the pears.

And I love your story about the furniture from your great great grandmother. Sometimes things have a value far beyond just money. They make memories.

Very beautiful! I really marvel at your ability to handle the various textures. The polished pears against the tapestry really make them sing!

WOW!!! This is beautiful. Is that untouched linen in the background? If so, its is very clever, as it is a foil for the soft pears.
And the wood is touchable!
Congratulations.

Oh Marilyn this is lovely!! There is something special about paintings on linen when the linen texture shows. The floral shapes in the background compliment the shapes and directions of the pears and stems so nicely. I'm just curious, did you make this linen panel, or purchase it?

This is just beautiful. I wouldn't worry about being loose if you paint this beautifully "tightly"! Nice job...

Marilyn, this is such a lovely painting. The color works very harmoniously. I am drawn to the sheen on the pears. Nicely done.
