For those of you wondering where I've been for a month and a half, I could write a book, but it would be rather boring. The short version is life happens - good and bad things get in the way of painting. Elderly folks issues, cleaning business, beach week vacation, viruses, commissioned piece, and catch up time for all; is a worthy list.
Our week in Surfside Beach, S.C. was perfect in every way. I didn't take any paints, but took over 500 digital images and have some great photo reference. I started out with something simple painting these seagulls and although a bit rusty, I enjoyed painting them. Another painting is in progress that I'm struggling with but I hope to complete it in the next day or so. Oh, did I say that the beach was perfect? Great weather, yummy seafood, beautiful views and blessed time with the hubby.

"Peeled Orange No.2"
6"x 6" Oil on gessoed board.
I've included a shot of the commissioned piece that I completed after our trip. You may recognize "Peeled Orange" from an earlier post. Someone was sorry to have missed purchasing the first one and requested my painting it again. I thought you may like to see the differences and similarities of the two. It is easier in some ways and more difficult in other ways to duplicate one's own work. The drawing, composition and lighting are worked out already, but it is difficult to keep it fresh and "inspired". I had to really work at the "inspired" part.
Well I hope I'm back......

No rust showing here Marilyn. Beautiful work.
Welcome back...can't wait to see all the work from your photos. I love how you handled the wet sand!
Marilyn,
You really captured the personalities of those gulls. Beautifully done.
