DSFDF 2009 Portrait Swap

8"x 10" Oil on linen panel.

This painting has been submitted to the 2009 portrait swap challenge on Karin Jurick's blog. After a year of biweekly challenges Karin gives each participating artist a "mystery" artist to paint Link for the month of December. That artist is painting our own portrait and at the end of the month we swap our portraits. It is something we all look forward to and I can't wait to see who this lovely artist is. Check out Karin's blog, "Different Strokes for Different Strokes" to see the different portraits posted all month.

I worked on this painting over two days, keeping the painting wet in the freezer overnight to continue to work wet into wet. The total time was about 12 hours. I hope she loves it and it is somewhat of a likeness. The funny thing is that I see myself in this portrait. That scares me a bit. hehe.

This is a wonderful portrait Marilyn and a very good likeness...all the many hours paid off! She should love it! I think her initials are S.C.
I've read before that artist's often unintentionally put their likeness in portraits.

I do know who this artist is...wow...did you nail the likeness...quite an impressive portrait. Am sure this will be one of the top entries. Your artist is also a portrait painter so you should be well pleased with her likeness of your photo. 10 hours...well worth the time spent!!!

Thanks to all! I'm responding by email due to the Chinese taking over my automatic comments. They are trying to sell everything from viagra to luxury hotel suites (with "entertainment") through my comments section. I used google translator to see what all those Chinese characters where saying! glad I did. I get several a day! Help!

Great painting Marilyn. You have a real knack for portraits, even though I know, you don't do many.

Right now I'm watching a recorded live presentation of Susan Carlin painting your portrait. She sent me here. So far she's sketching you in. This portrait you've done of her is fabulous. Looks just like her.
